Avocados
Because avocado is harvested green, we should wait until it reaches the right point to be eaten. Use avocados that are without soft spots, firm but yield to gentle pressure, showing they are ripe. Avoid soft avocados and those that are scarred. Ideally it should be eaten when the pulp becomes soft and can be easily removed with a spoon.
To speed ripening, store unripe avocado in a paper bag. When ripe, refrigerate up to 5 days.
Cut the avocado lengthwise around the pit. Remove the pit and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Add to your green smoothie to make it creamier. |
